Tennessee Smokies Baseball Video

Last week I had the chance to finally give shotting video with a HDSLR a serious try. It’s a difficult way to shoot video, but being able to use a 300mm lens at 2.8 gives it a very unique look. Huge thanks are due to Adam Kline and the Tennessee Smokies, Wade Payne (gear), Patrick Murphy-Racey (video technique), and Cap Stewart (editing).

This was shot entirely with a Canon 7D, mounted on a monopod with a 300mm 2.8 lens, and edited with Sony Vegas. It’s really two different videos combined into one, and while it’s far from perfect, I’m pretty happy with it

Been busy today planning out my schedule for the upcoming football season (First game is August 19th!) and also had a few nice surprises today.

One is the new Anderson County Football poster schedule, with an image of mine from last year as the background…

Football and Fireworks!

And the second surprise was the lead image on www.maxpreps.com, I remember this being one tall dude!

Wow, what a weekend! Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Wade Payne and I covered the “Feel The Heat” basketball tournament held at Eagleton Middle School. This is the second time we’ve been to Eagleton in the past 2 months, and as usual everyone there was great to work with.

2010 Kesslers Classic Baseball Tournament in Knoxville

Last weekend myself and some of the other CBS Maxpreps photographers in the area covered the Kesslers Classic Baseball Tournament. There’s some really good high school baseball being played right now, and the semifinal game with Mt. Juliet and Farragut was one of the best HS baseball games I’ve ever seen. Anderson County Baseball Tournament

Late last Friday night I started hearing some rumors of a baseball tournament being held at Anderson County High School, and after looking at the weather forecast I decided I NEEDED to cover it…it was really nice to get outside and shoot in the daylight with nice warm/dry weather! As always, the folks at AC were great to work with I’m looking forward to covering lots of baseball this spring. Here are a few of my favorites, the complete galleries are online with CBS MaxPreps.

Pay particular attention to the image of the Halls Player about to make contact with the ball (bat is bent) and the AC Player actually making contact (ball is blurred due to accelerating off of bat), pretty neat stuff!

Adidas Team Hustle Hoop It Up Classic

Last Friday through Sunday the Sports Photography Group that I work with, The Purple Lens Sports Photography, covered the Adidas Team Hustle Hoop It Up Classic Basketball Tournament here in Knoxville, TN. With 3 photographers (Myself, Jamie Dahl, and Grant Duncan) we covered 53 games (at 4 different gyms) and published over 3,000 images. My wife Laura took care of the onsite viewing stations and printing, which (as always), was a huge hit. All of the staff were great to work with and it was a really nice tournament to be a part of!
