Blog and Website Change

Well, guess you may have noticed a few changes here I needed a more “static” main web page, hence the flash website at www.randysartin.com

This will allow me to “clean up” this blog a little bit, and I’ll be updating here on a regular basis. And yes, I know the blog is whacked out right now but I promise to fix it tomorrow!

Randy joins Images By Design Group!

I’m very pleased to announce that I have joined the Images By Design Group Studio here in Knoxville! The group is comprised of three other photographers…Wade Payne, Lisa Norman-Hudson, and Julie Poole. These three are high on my list of favorite photographers and their list of accomplishments and awards is way too long to get into here. We feel that it’s a great “fit” for everyone involved and I am excited about what the future holds. So what does all this mean for Randy Sartin Photography?

First and foremost, we are no longer shooting in my garage! The Studio is first rate and I can’t wait to get started, it sure will be a lot more comfortable this winter. Plus we have unlimited options on lighting, backgrounds, etc. There will be a few other minor changes, but for the most part we just have a new home

We will be having a little get together at the studio before long, plus we are going to run some specials for the fans of Randy Sartin Photography on Facebook. What, you’re not a fan? You better get over to our Facebook Page and get signed up!

Homes of Love

OK, I admit it…I’ve been neglecting this site for a while. We’ve been real busy covering High School Football, having a Grandkid, went to the most awesome photography workshop ever, etc., etc.

So I’m going to start trying to catch up At the end of October I was asked to photograph an event being held for www.homesoflove.org , which provides loving homes for children in need…in Vietnam! It’s an awesome cause and these folks are doing a great job, so please check out their website and see if you can give them a hand. Here’s a slideshow from the event…

Hello All!!!

Facebook, Twitter, texting, Blackberries, iPhones, MySpace…all sort of makes “email” look like a rotary dial telephone. Times sure are changing! Several months ago I created a Facebook “group” for Randy Sartin Photography, which was not the right thing to do. I’ve finally created a proper “page” for us, located HERE. So please take a look and become a fan, it’s going to have a lot more content and we will be running specials for fans from time to time. There’s also a link for it at the bottom of this page, Thanks!

Sunday I was lucky enough to to hang out with Bryson, who is high on my list of favorite clients With the wide variety of things I cover I sometimes find myself wondering what is my favorite thing to photograph…Weddings are absolutely awesome with the fast pace and emotions, Seniors are a blast with all of their energy, OpLove sessions mean SO much to me. But nothing in the world is as fun as chasing these little ones around! Here are a few of my favorites…

UT Digital Photography Class

Tonight I had the pleasure of speaking at Tom Geisler’s advanced photography class and I mentioned a few websites that I promised to put up some information about, so here they are!

First and foremost is NOBS . There is a lot of information available for free but the paid portion of the forum is absolutely the best investment I’ve ever made in photography (excluding Tom’s classes, of course!)
An excellent free forum is dGrin.
Both of these forums are excellent places to post images for feedback. NOBS also is a tremendous resource for tutorials, marketing info, and networking.

Another site worth looking at is Ken Rockwell , especially if you are a Nikon user. Ken is very opioniated and you sort of have to weed through some stuff to get to the goodies. His Nikon user guides are excellent.

Another “You either hate ‘em or you love him” guy is Charles Lewis . He has a very specific approach to selling large Fine Art portraits, but a lot of his marketing techniques make a lot of sense.

Oh yeah, one more good site is ProPhoto . If you’re looking for a website that is easy to set up, a breeze to keep updated, very search engine friendly, and doesn’t cost a ton…this is what you need!

Cars & Coffee at EAG

Today another Cars and Coffee event was held at European Auto Garage. The rain settled in about the time things got underway, but there were still quite a few cars. We still had a great time talking with and seeing everyone and of course we took a few images. We also had a display booth setup and it seemed to be well received…hope everyone took advantage of the specials we offered! Thanks to all the folks at EAG and Racer’s Edge for having us, can’t wait for the next one!
