Been busy today planning out my schedule for the upcoming football season (First game is August 19th!) and also had a few nice surprises today.

One is the new Anderson County Football poster schedule, with an image of mine from last year as the background…

And the second surprise was the lead image on www.maxpreps.com, I remember this being one tall dude!

Images from the Loudon County at Alcoa football game are now online with MaxPreps Here . All of the nine games I shot this year for MaxPreps are located HERE and includes White County, Anderson County, Halls, Bearden, Farragut, Clinton, Alcoa, Loudon, and CAK.

I’ve really had a great time covering High School Football this year! MaxPreps has been great to work with and I also need to give special thanks to all of the great people at Anderson County High School, they allowed me to have pretty unlimited access while I learned how to shoot football in the dark

The Farragut at Bearden is now online with MaxPreps! CRAZY game to cover, started with rolling clouds Pre-Game Friday, then thunderstorms with a rain delay followed with a postponement until Saturday at 6PM. So on Saturday the game started in daylight and went into regular old night time, felt like I covered 3 different games

What can I say, I’m loving sports photography What I didn’t expect was to learn as much as I am about some pretty technical photography stuff, especially some of the finer points involving ambient light and flashes.

Yesterday I went to the Halls @ AC Freshmen and JV games to practice with a new flash setup. The Freshmen game went into overtime (AC won in overtime) and I have a bunch of really good images from that game, I’ll try to get them up in a day or two. Friday I covered the Halls @ Anderson County Football game. It was my first night football game as a MaxPreps photographer and it doesn’t look like this game will get published with them, but I certainly think we will get the next one published! The staff at MaxPreps are great to work with, but this “shooting a fast moving sport at night with flash” thing is a little bit different Of course I had a great time and the folks at AC were wonderful to work with. Sports Photography

My plan was to do this last week before my class started, but I didn’t quite get it done I’ve made a “Sports Portfolio” Gallery, with the idea of comparing these images to some images from later this year. So take a look at them, there’s some baseball, football, and a little soccer thrown in. The cool part will be when I post the “After Class” Gallery and we compare the two. Of course the football images aren’t really “before class” images, but what the heck….

Carson Newman Football

This past Saturday I got to do something I’ve looked forward to for a long time…the UT Sports Photography Class that I’m taking made it’s Field Trip to cover a Carson Newman Football game. Wade Payne is our instructor and he REALLY knows his stuff, if you are at all interested in sports photography I highly recommend his class. The folks at Carson Newman are a class act as well. CN played UNC Pembroke and won with a score of 35-22.

All in all I’m pretty happy with the results, I know I sure learned a lot. Here’s a slideshow of my favorites.
