Last week I had the chance to finally give shooting video with a HDSLR a serious try. It’s a difficult way to shoot video, but being able to use a 300mm lens at 2.8 gives it a very unique look. Huge thanks are due to Adam Kline and the Tennessee Smokies, Wade Payne (gear), Patrick Murphy-Racey (video technique), and Cap Stewart (editing).
This was shot entirely with a Canon 7D, mounted on a monopod with a 300mm 2.8 lens, and edited with Sony Vegas. It’s really two different videos combined into one, and while it’s far from perfect, I’m pretty happy with it![]()
